The MRLNSW Heritage Program, supported through the sanctioning, insurance and facilitation provided by NSWRL and HRL, features a series of esteemed events that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Māori rugby league community. Our collaboration with HRL and other heritage nations allows us to create competitive games that strengthen our shared cultural legacy.
Being selected for the MRLNSW Heritage Squads is an extraordinary honour and a remarkable opportunity for players of Māori descent. This selection signifies not only a recognition of your exceptional skills and dedication to rugby league but also a chance to connect deeply with your cultural heritage and represent your community on a prestigious platform.
As a member of the Heritage Squad, you may have the privilege of competing against top-tier teams such as Queensland Māori Rugby League and other representative teams at Aotearoa New Zealand Māori Rugby League Tournaments. Additionally, you will participate in heritage matches against other nations involved in the Heritage Rugby League, and engage in community and cultural events throughout the year.
Selection for the Heritage Squad opens doors to new experiences, friendships and a deeper understanding of your roots. It is an opportunity to showcase your talent on an elevated stage, inspire future generations and contribute to the legacy of Māori Rugby League NSW.
At Māori Rugby League NSW, our kaupapa is deeply committed to developing pathways that support and enhance all our programs. This commitment is driven by the dedication and talents of our esteemed komiti members, who work tirelessly to create opportunities for growth and success within our community. Through their unwavering efforts, we strive to foster an environment where every participant can achieve their full potential and contribute to the legacy of Māori rugby league.
To be considered for selection in a Heritage Representative team, players must trial and compete in the Māori Rugby League NSW Tournament.
